The British Muslim Heritage Centre strongly urges the UK Government to officially recognise the state of Palestine.

This recognition is long overdue and would be a meaningful step towards achieving a just and lasting peace in the region. For decades, the UK has publicly supported a two-state solution. Now is the time to match that commitment with action.

British recognition of Palestine would carry particular weight given the UK’s historic role in the region — as the author of the Balfour Declaration and the former Mandatory Power in Palestine. Recognition would not only honour our moral responsibility, but also reaffirm the UK’s position as a credible voice for peace on the global stage.

We believe this step would demonstrate international leadership and solidarity with those who have suffered under occupation and conflict for generations. It would also send a clear message that the rights, freedoms, and dignity of the Palestinian people must be respected.

The BMHC stands in solidarity with all who seek justice, peace, and security for both Palestinians and Israelis. We call on the UK Government to act decisively and recognise the state of Palestine.
