Appointment as Interim Chair of Ofsted

The British Muslim Heritage Centre (BMHC) proudly congratulates Sir Mufti Hamid Patel CBE on his appointment as the Interim Chair of Ofsted. His appointment marks a significant moment, not only for the education sector but also for the wider recognition of the contributions of British Muslims to society.
Sir Mufti Hamid Patel is a distinguished education leader, renowned for his transformative impact on schools across the country. As the Chief Executive of Star Academies, he has overseen the development of one of the UKโs most successful multi-academy trusts, achieving some of the best outcomes for students nationwide, with over eight of the Academies schools placed in the top 20 list of performing schools. His leadership has been instrumental in raising standards, particularly in communities that face socio-economic challenges.
In addition to his extensive experience in the education sector, Sir Mufti Hamid has served as an Ofsted board member since 2019, providing him with an in-depth understanding of the organisationโs framework and priorities. His appointment comes at a crucial time, as Ofsted navigates key reforms to ensure that the education system remains effective, inclusive, and aspirational for all children in Britain.
